It is said that Patrick, as a young lad, was out in the Jacobite Rising of 1745 with his uncle, John MacLeod, 7th of the MacLeods of Glendale, the "Jacobite Baronet". In 1747, Patrick settled in the parish of St. Quivox. Ayrshire, where he married Jean MacGowan, with issue. Patrick MacLeod died in 1779, and was succeeded in the representation of the family by his son.
