Known as Ruairidh Og, Š was born in Barra, in 1977, and emigrated with
his parents and the other members of the family to Prince Edward Island,
Canada, in 1802. ["The MacNeils of Barra" (THE CELTIC REVIEW, pp.
221-2)] He was a well educated man, and was highly respected in
Prince Edward Island, first as a school teacher and afterwards as
Member of Assembly. He gave up teaching to become a farmer, having
received 200 acres of his father's land at Vernon River, Prince Edward
Island. He died in 1850. He married, in 1811, Catherine MacEachern,
with issue.
