!BIOGRAPHY: Rev. Dr. Donald MacKinnon and Alick Morrison, THE MACLEODS--THE GENEALOGY OF A CLAN, Section II, Edinburgh, The Clan MacLeod Society, 1968, p. 124. Donald MacLeod was born in 1689. Little is known of his life. The fact that his son, Alexander, in his Will, describes his father as 'Mr.' Donald MacLeod would seem to indicate that he had been to the University and had graduated Master of Arts. It is possible that he was the Donald MacLeod from Skye who attended King's College, Aberdeen, 1711-15, and graduated M.A. in 1715. In his son's Will, made in 1747, he is described as 'late of Unish', and 'now (1747) Lieut. in the Honble. my Lord Drumlanrick's Regt. in the Dutch Service'. It is not known when or where he died. He was married, with issue.
