!SOURCE: Rev. Dr. Donald MacKinnon, THE MACLEODS: THE GENEALOGY OF A CLAN, Section III, "Cadet Families", Edinburgh, The Clan MacLeod Society, 1970, pp. 95, 96. Donald succeeded his brother at Balmeanach. In 1741-7 he was tacksman of Torrin and Kinlockslapin in Strath [Strath Estate Rentals] For a time he was Factor for the MacLeod Estates [The Book of Dunvegan, II, p. 94]. He was married, but there is no record of his wife's name, and had issue. The exact date of Donald MacLeod's death is not know, but it would appear that he died about 1756, when he was succeeded by his elder son.
