Although a minor when his grandfather, Iain a'Chuil Bhain, died in 1557, was
acknowledged by the MacLeod's as his successor. [BANNATYNE
MANUSCRIPT]. He was a mere boy when his grandfather died, and soon
afterwards was assassinated by their uncle, Iain Dubh, in the Castle at
Dunvegan.
