3. Hon. Godfrey Macdonald, born 14th October 1775, captain of a
company in the first regiment of foot-guards, with the rank of
lieutenant-colonel in the army. He served under Sir Eyre Coote, in the
23d or Welsh fuzileers, in the expedition to Ostend; was wounded in
Holland, in the campaign 1799, under the Duke of York; served in the
West Indies, with the 35th regiment of foot; and commanded the 24th
regiment at the reduction of the Cape of Good Hope. He married Miss
Louisa Maria Edsir, and by her had eight children.
