From Kenneth, 11th in descent from Iain Borb, 6th Chief of the MacLeods of Dunvegan, and 4th son of Norman, 3rd of Gledale, are descended the MacLeods of Arnisdale. Skye tradition and old genealogical trees call him Kenneth Mac Alasdair, instead of Kenneth Ogha Alasdair (grandson of Alexander). He settled in Scallasaig, Glenelg, where he married Isabel, daughter of Finlay, son of John Breac, son of the Rev. Farquhar MacRae of Kintail. Isabel's mother was Janet, daughter of Lauchlan MacKinnon (the Bard) of the MacKinnons of Ceann Uachdarach, Skye. Kenneth MacLeod of Scallasaig died comparatively young. His widow, Isabel, survived him and afterwards married the Rev. Neil MacKinnon of Corry, Tacksman of Borreraig, Strath, and by him she had a second family of three daughters.

The MacLeod family of Arnisdale in Glenelg was descended from Kenneth, fourth and youngest son of Alexander MacLeod, 2nd of the MacLeods of Glendale in Skye, who was descended from Alexander MacLeod (Alasdair Og), second son of Alexander MacLeod, 1st of the MacLeods of Liosail, who was third son of Norman MacLeod, 4th of the MacLeods of Waternish, whos progenitor was Norman MacLeod, second of Iain Borb MacLeod, 6th Chief. Kenneth, who was born about 1668, settled in Scallasaig, Glenelg, where he married Isabel, daughter of Finlay, son of John Breac, son of the Rev. Farquhar MacRae (1580-1662), minister of Kintail, with issue. Kenneth MacLeod, 1st of the MacLeod family of Arnisdale died a young man, and was succeeded by his elder son.
