!BIOGRAPHY: Sir Robert Douglas of Glenbervie, THE PEERAGE OF SCOTLAND, Edinburgh, 1813, p. 480. VIII. Sir Kenneth MacKenzie of Kintail, the eldest son, was knighted by King James IV., contributed greatly to the civilization of the northern parts, and died about 1506 or 1507. He married, first, a sister of the last Earl of Ross, whom he divorced, and by her had a son, Kenneth, who, on occasion of some tumults in the north, was confined in Stirling Castle, from whence he escaped, but was retaken and put to death. He married, secondly, Agnes, daughter of Hugh, Lord Lovat, and had issue.
