Torquil Cononach claimed to be the son and heir of Roderick MacLEod X of Lewis. He married Margaret, daughter of Angus MacDonald VII of the MacDonalds of Glengarry (widow of Cuthbert of Castlehill, Inverness), with issue. Torquil Cononach last appeared on record in 1609 [W.C. MacKenzie (1903/1974) HISTORY OF THE OUTER HEBRIDES, p. 258.], but it seems that he did not die until shortyly after the invasion of Lewis by the MacKenzies (1610). [The Rev. Archibald MacDonald (1941) THE GAELIC SOCIETY OF INVERNESS (XXXVI), p. 192.].
