!BIOGRAPHY: Sir Robert Douglas of Glenbervie, THE PEERAGE OF SCOTLAND, Edinburgh, 1813, p. 480. IX. John Mackenzie of Kintail, the eldest son, had a charter of Kintail, Eleandounan, and other lands, 25th February 1508. He had charters of Killquhilldruin, &c. in Ross-shire, 25th September 1528; of Kinlothbanquhare, Eleandounan, &c. in Inverness-shire, 30th August 1538; of the King's lands of Meiklebrawan, in the same county, and of Monar, &c. in Ross-shire, 15th September and 22d October 1541; of Lochbryne, in excambion for Fotherty, to him and Elisabeth Grant his wife, 13th September 1543, and of Culcaloyd and Drym, in Ross-shire, to himself, 13th July 1556. He died soon afterwards, leaving a son.
