THE GENEALOGY OF A CLAN, Section III, "MacLeod Cadet Families",
Edinburgh, The Clan MacLeod Society, 1970, p. 59. Joined the Army,
served gallantly in both world wars and rose to the rank of Brigadier in
the Royal Artillery. He was the President of the Clan MacLeod Society
for many years. He married Winifred Mary Freeman. Both were
imprisoned by the Japanese in World War II. Mrs. MacLeod in particular
suffered considerably from infirmities, brought on by her internment,
and these she bore to the end with remarkable fortitude. Brigadier
Torquil and his wife had issue.
