!BIOGRAPHY: Rev. Dr. Donald MacKinnon and Alick Morrison, THE MACLEODS -- THE GENEALOGY OF A CLAN, Section II, Edinburgh, The Clan MacLeod Society, 1968, p. 103. The MacLeods of Hamer in Glendale, Skye, were descended from Sir Roderick Mor MacLeod, 15th Chief of the Clan, whose fourth son, William, was their progenitor. William was born about 1617. Though he lived to be a very old man, there is very little known about him. He married, it is said [MS. NOTES ON THE MACLEODS OF HAMER, by the late Hector Hugh MacKenzie, Muniment Room, Dunvegan Castle.], Elizabeth, daughter of Robert Munro, 3rd of the Munros of Assynt, and 1st of the Munros of Inveran, and his wife, Margaret, only daughter of Robert Munro, 16th Baron of Fowlis, [MacKenzie: HISTORY OF THE MUNROS (1898), pp. 471-2. In his HISTORY OF THE MACLEOD (p. 262), William's wife is given as a 'daughter of Munro of Inverawe', which is a misprint for 'Munro of Inveran'.], with issue.
