Alexander... was a Major in the 12th Regiment, Bengal Native Infantry,
and saw much service in Bengal. He was present as a volunteer at the
capture of Java, and was for several years Resident Commissioner at
Sourabeya and Bangi Wangi. He died in 1828, at Forres, Morayshire. He
married Louisa, daughter of Henry Browne of the Indian Civil Service, a
cadet of the family of Oranmore and Browne, with issue.
