Neil MacLeod eighth baron of Assynt, who married Florence, daughter of Torquil MacLeod eleventh baron of Lewes, by whom he had three sons. "1. Neil, his heir. "2. John, of whom afterwards. "3. Alexander, who married, and had a son who went into general Murray's regiment in the Dutch service, and settled at Courtray, where, anno 1710, he married Jean Cartier of a reputable family in that country, and died anno 1717, leaving issue two sons. 1. John Baptiste Piere. 2. Francois Daniel, a clergyman. John Baptiste Piere Macleod, eldest son of John, was a merchant in Courtray, and anno 1733, married Francois de Clereg, by whom he had two sons and two daughters. 1. Louis Joseph. 2. Francois Ignace Joseph, who married Constance Nolf of Courtray. 1st daughter, Marie Therese Josephe, a Begrunch, (a religious order.) 2. Reging Joseph, married to Mr. John Francois Parmentier of Bruges, and hath one son, John Antoine, and two daughters, Marie Therese and Caroline. Louis Joseph Macleod, eldest son of John Baptiste is now a merchant and linen-draper in Courtray, and, anno 1759, married Angelina Van de Bourde of Nevele, by whom he has three sons and three daughters. 1. Francois-Louis. 2. Louis. 3. Jacques-Benoit. 1st daughter, Maria Angeline. 2. Maria Therese, 3. Maria Jeane. "We now return to Neil eighth baron of Assynt, who was succeeded by his eldest son."
