Was born on 2nd July 1808, and was an officer in the Indian Army. He
distinguised himself at Kandahar in the First Afghan War, and was
appointed A.D.C. to Lord Ellenborough, Governor-General of India. He
married Flora Anne, daughter of Lieut.-General Sir Walter Raleigh
Gilbert, G.C.B., and his wife, Isabella, daughter of Major Thomas Ross and
his wife, Isabella, daughter of John MacLeod, 11th of the MacLEods of
Raasay, without issue. Roderick Norman MacLean died at sea off Cape
Comorin, in 1845, four months after his marriage. His widow
afterwards married General Shubrick of the East India Company, with
issue.
