Succeeded his brother, James, as 16th of Largie. In 1793 he was served
heir to his mother and grandmother, and took the name of MacLeod. As
Alexander MacLeod of Muiravonside, he married, on 27th April 1801, a
sister of the Rev. Sir John Hay Dalmahoy, Baronet, with issue. Having
succeeded to the Lee and Carnwath estates, in 1802, on the death of his
cousin, Charles, Count Lockhart Wishart, Alexander dropped the name of
MacLeod and resumed his paternal name of Lockhart. He was created a
baronet of the United Kingdom on 24th May 1806. He died on 22nd June
1816, leaving issue.
