A younger brother of Dr. Farquhar MacKinnon, 3rd of the MacKinnons of Kyle, who was married to her old sister, Catherine. Margaret MacLeod and Capt. neil MacKinnon had issue, an only daughter, Johanna, who was born on19th May 1823, and died, at Keoldale, Sutherland, on 2nd July 1884. She married, on 28th November 1944, John Scobie of Keoldale, Sutherland, with issue.
