Donald... was born in 1816, and educated at Pimlico Grammar school. He became an Advocate in the Courts of Bengal and of Burma. In the last-mentioned place he was appointed Legal Adviser to the Government. He returned to Britain, in 1850, as one of the suite of the Nepalese Ambassador, Jung Bahadur. It is said that Donald MacLeod was a man of great size. He married, in 1840, Caroline, daughter of Richard Millbanke Tilghman of the Bengal Civil Service, and died, in 1869, at Rangoon, leaving issue.
