Alasdair Ban was the son of Alasdair Ruadh. His elder brother, Alasdair Ruadh, was the progenitor of the MacLeods of Pabbay, St. Kilda, Varkasaig, Bay, Balmore and Gillen. Alasdair Ban was born c. 1570. He represented the Clan Alasdair Ruaidh in 1616 before the Scottish Privy Council for Rory Mor, XV Chief, as a leader of one of the ancient families, with his cousin, Neil of the MacLeods of Borline. He held Trumpan in Waternish at the time. He was married, with issue.
